The LED lighting market is growing rapidly thanks to the energy crisis increasing demand for cheaper, more efficient lighting. This means there is so much more LED lighting to choose from. Hawtin Electrical are on hand as your local commercial LED lighting installers in Oxford to help.
What is LED?
LED stands for light emitting diode. LED lighting uses around 80% less energy when producing light compared to the traditional bulbs. The way they work is LED’s are almost completely powered by electrical currents and the majority, if not all of that is then converted into light. Older halogen bulbs use heat instead. LED’s also run at a much lower wattage which helps them save as much energy as possible. Don’t be fooled though, the light they do produce is just as bright if not better!
How much money will I save?
The big question of course is how much money is there to be saved by switching to only LED’s. Well, you will probably be presently surprised. It is suggested that on average each LED bulb will save you around £35 a year. That may not seem a lot but a big commercial property that invests and switches all lights from traditional bulbs to LED’s will rack up huge saving on its energy bills.
Of course, at first it will be a cost to switch to all LED’s to keep that in mind. However, in the long run it will be a huge benefit. LED’s also last much longer and require little maintenance during their life span. On average LED lights can last up to 50,000 hours, almost 50x longer than traditional bulbs.
Why else should you make the ‘switch’
- LEDs are more environmentally friendly, they can in fact be recycled too.
- They are much safer – using less voltage means there’s a lower risk of fires and electric shocks.
- Less heat – as they don’t rely on heat as a power source, they are much less prone to overheating and creating a fire hazard.
